About President George Bush Turnpike (PGBT)
The President George Bush Turnpike (commonly "PGBT" or "the Bush Turnpike") is a 52-mile tolled loop operated by NTTA. It curves around the northern half of DFW from Garland in the east, across Plano and Richardson, through Carrollton, and down through Irving to SH-161, connecting most of the major north Dallas suburbs.
Cities We Cover Along PGBT

Why Breakdowns Happen Here
PGBT carries a mix of long-haul commuters and short-trip suburb traffic, with high speeds in the express sections. Common breakdown causes:
- Tire blowouts at highway speeds โ debris pickup is common
- Overheating in summer in the Garland/Rowlett stretch
- Out-of-fuel events โ exits are spaced apart in the northeast section
- Wildlife and debris strikes on the eastern segments
