Tesla & EV Towing in Dallas-Fort Worth
Electric cars cannot be flat-towed or dolly-towed — the regenerative braking and direct-drive motors mean towing on the wheels can destroy the drivetrain. We tow every EV on a flatbed, period. 24/7 across DFW.
Why EVs Must Be Flatbed-Towed
Almost every EV — Tesla, Rivian, Lucid, Mustang Mach-E, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, Chevy Bolt — has a direct-drive motor connected to the wheels with no neutral disconnect. Towing them on the wheels (even at low speed) spins the motor backwards, generates heat, can overcharge the battery, and can permanently damage the drivetrain. Tesla's own manual is explicit: flatbed transport only. We follow the manufacturer's spec on every EV we touch.EVs We Tow

Tesla-Specific Process
Tesla locks up in Park when off and disconnected from power. We put the car into Transport Mode (or use the manual disengagement process if the 12V battery is dead) to allow the wheels to roll onto the flatbed deck. We carry the proper recovery hooks for the front and rear tow points, and we know to never use the suspension or the underbody for tie-down points.Dead 12V Battery? We've Got It
EVs have a 12V battery in addition to the main traction battery. When the 12V dies, the car can't open doors, unlock the charge port, or shift into Transport Mode. We can jump the 12V on-site to get the car into the right state for loading.
Where We Tow
Your home, a Tesla Service Center, a dealership, or any independent EV-qualified shop in DFW. We know where the nearest service options are and can recommend if you ask.
Long-Distance EV Transport
Need a Tesla or other EV moved to a different city or state? We do long-distance EV transport on flatbeds with the right tie-downs and load planning. Quote by the trip.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you tow a Tesla in DFW?
Yes — flatbed only, with proper Transport Mode setup and the correct tow hooks. We handle all Tesla models including Cybertruck.
Why can't a Tesla be towed with a regular tow truck?
Tesla's drivetrain is direct-drive without a neutral disconnect. Towing on the wheels can overcharge the battery and damage the motor. Tesla's official guidance is flatbed-only.
My Tesla won't unlock — the 12V is dead.
We can jump the 12V on-site to get the car into Transport Mode for loading. Standard process for us.
Do you tow Rivians and other newer EVs?
Yes — Rivian R1T/R1S, Lucid Air, Ford F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E, Hyundai/Kia EVs, Polestar, and others. Same flatbed-only approach.
What about plug-in hybrids?
PHEVs (Prius Prime, RAV4 Prime, Volt, etc.) should also be flatbed-towed when possible to protect the drivetrain.
